3 Tips For Finding a Great Automotive Center

Did you know that Auto technicians do not need a license to work on your car? Anyone can purchase some tools and get a job working on cars or even open their own auto repair shop. According to a survey by AutoMD.com, “Women dislike going to Auto Repair Centers more than going to the Dentist.”

The good news is that there are exceptional automotive service centers in every city in the United States. The bad news is that it can be hard to find them if you don’t know what you are looking for.

These three tips can help take some of the anxiety out of your search:

1. References

References from friends and family are a great way to start your investigation. Make a list and then check them out online. Dig deep on their website, use Google and social media listings, and read the reviews.

2. Certifications

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has been setting the industry standard since 1972 with their voluntary certification program. Look to see if the service center your considering is participating in the ASE Certification program. This will help you understand their staff’s level of skill, experience, and dedication to their jobs. For more information about Certified Auto Technicians, go to www.ASE.com/drivers.

3. Test Drive

Test out the repair centers by making an appointment for a minor service like an oil change or tire rotation. Make note of the appearance of the outside of the building, and how clean and comfortable the waiting room and restrooms are.

This also gives you a chance to experience the center’s customer service and communication skills; two very important qualities of an exceptional repair center. Make sure they have a policy to get your approval before they do any work. Be sure to ask if they specialize on the make and model you drive. It’s also a bonus if they have a shuttle service, loaner cars, and after-hours key-drop and pick-up procedures.

If you follow these three steps, you will be able to find an exceptional automotive service center that has the experience, skill, and expertise to keep your car safe and reliable for years to come.
