Doug the Pug’s owner, Leslie Mosier, shares the wellness tips, diet staples, and daily routines that keep this beloved pup thriving.
Can you tell us about Doug’s daily diet? Are there any specific foods or treats that are his favorites?
Doug eats a specially crafted fresh food diet, and it’s made a huge difference in his hydration and overall health. His coat is the softest it’s ever been! For snacks, he loves blueberries, carrots, and freeze-dried minnows. One of our favorite ways to serve his food is by stuffing it in a Kong and freezing it for a nighttime treat.
What’s his secret to staying in top shape? Are there any wellness routines or tips you swear by?
Consistency is key. Doug gets daily walks, often with his younger sister, which keeps him active and engaged. He also receives support for joint comfort and mobility, including a regular supplement routine and occasional red light therapy. Recently, he tried a regenerative product, and there’s been an observable improvement in his energy and movement.
What role do you think supplements play in a pet’s wellness routine, and when should pet parents consider adding them to their pets’ diet?
Supplements definitely play an important role! There are so many natural and organic options that are easy to incorporate and can make a huge difference, whether it’s for joints, anxiety, longevity, or allergies. Right now, we’re really focused on Doug’s longevity, and recently added an incredible mushroom blend to his daily routine. It’s already made a noticeable difference. Even simple additions like goat’s milk for probiotics or a few drops of milk thistle for liver support can go a long way.
Are there any tech gadgets, such as treat dispensers or interactive cameras, that help keep him engaged and entertained when you’re not around?
Interactive cameras have been really helpful for staying connected when we’re away. They provide peace of mind and allow us to check in on Doug throughout the day. Features like treat dispensing can also offer positive reinforcement and keep pets mentally engaged during alone time.
When it comes to grooming, what’s Doug’s must-have product? Any tips or tricks to keep a pug’s coat healthy and shiny?
Finding a gentle shampoo that suits your dog’s skin can make a big difference, especially for breeds prone to irritation. Doug’s grooming routine has helped reduce paw licking and itching, and his coat is noticeably softer. In addition, maintaining gut health and incorporating healthy fats like fish oil can contribute to a shinier, healthier coat over time.
